I've been noticing this "Quilt Box" concept around lately and checked out their website.  Looks like great stuff included in the boxes and well....I signed up for a 3 month subscription today...for science...

I came across this on Ravelry and thought I really should knit this for a few reasons...1. I can knit 2. I have pugs 3. Former media specialist of elementary school 4. It's too cute!!

Sarah (no blog) made me do it....

I was emailing Sarah (no blog) about the Little Quilt Women of the Bible Quilt and Temecula Quilt a-long I was doing.  She then sent a picture of her 2" bow ties....remember the prior post where I had this wonderful bow tie quilt?  Well I started cutting out bow tie pieces last night while cutting my TQ blocks for the week.  Thanks Sarah...I think.  AHHHH don't know how I will keep up with all these wips.  It just made sense to cut out the bow ties with the other scrappy quilt blocks to get rid of my mountains of scraps.
I also saw this quilt that is constructed differently than any others I have done from Crazy Mom Quilts.

Isn't this cool?  Just think of all the scraps one would use.  She has a "recipe" for this quilt that will have you making one with new found freedom.  I can't wait to start mine...well after all my bow tie cutting. She is having a quilt along and I am late to the party, but will totally do this.

Temecula Quilts has the actual booklet if you would prefer to go with that. I just wanted less paper/books on my shelf. The blocks have cutting directions for different sizes, but I am making the 4" size.

As I was getting ready this morning, I go out into the bedroom and see this...

Buddy standing in an empty shoe box.  Not really sure why he was in it...maybe saying this is his personal space right now. Totally started the morning with a great laugh.

Striking quilt I need to make...

I found this quilt on Lisa Bongean's blog for their CA store summer block of the week.  I usually do one of their summer bow's but decided this year I need to finish prior ones. (Well this does sound good in theory).
I saw that their new store is doing this one...(click on pic to go to their store link)

This bow tie quilt was project was inspired by Ardie Skjoad's bow tie quilt shown here...Ardie...is Rhonda from Farmhouse Threads's Mom!!!

Well I decided I have block base, EQ, and other software to draft the block.  I also have so much repro fabric stash that I just could not justify signing up for another bow....so I am going to cut and do my own.  This quilt is so striking that I have to do it.

Turtle paper piecing

Here is a turtle from Quilt Art Designs BOM that I paper pieced. It is January's block. I haven't PP in a while so I have a few oopsies but know no one will know but me.  Next up is a cute sea lion...think I will do that one too.

New stars and BOM start....

Here are my Time Warp Stars for the Madder style prints.

I started my Laundry Basket BOM Flower Baskets from Homestead Hearth. I am doing this by hand and am using the LB paper pieces. They have cute sayings on the back but are thinner than I am used to working with.



I have all 6 diamonds laid out and ready to piece on batting boards that I made from cardboard my friend "Sarah no blog" gave me.  They really work great for these types of projects.  Off to go stitch more.

Knitting

Well since I have been taking it easy, I have been knitting.  I participated in a Mystery Knit Along.  Each week we got a clue for a section to make.  I learned all new stitches and got a cowl to boot.

Snowing!

Well it is snowing here in North Louisiana!  Everything shuts down pretty much if there is a hint of ice or snow.  This is a good thing. I do love how pretty the snow looks, but hate it when DH has to go back and forth to work in it. He did say he would come home early today.
Been knitting and glad I finished my "cold snap" hat by the Plucky Knitter on Ravelry.  I took a picture of it on the deck where the snow can be seen in the background. The hat is nice and warm.
Here are Toby's footprint and Peanut's.  Love the contrast. Toby likes the snow and Peanut is not too sure of it...the pugs will have nothing to do with it and it is like pulling teeth to get them even to go out to do their business.  Hope all of you are nice and warm.

I See You!

Oh how I wish "I See You" was a fun game to play...unfortunately it was more this type of "ICU" I was in for.  I was there for 3 days and then 2 days in the normal hospital part.  I am better, but it was scary.  I go see a regular doctor today to check that I am doing better.  Just getting older and the body is letting me know.  So on to more positive things....

I have made the 2nd month's paper pieced blocks for Quilt Art Designs beginner paper piecing bom.  Using my stash/scraps! I have been working on other things, but sharing this today.

Barbara Brackman's Time Warp Stars

Each week Barbara Brackman will discuss fabrics from a previous time...thus the time warp part and they will all be the same block...a star.

I decided to use some tools I have already for making flying geese...my Deb Tucker Wing Clipper.

I figured out the cut measurements if you would like to make your own.
For each block you will need a "star" fabric and a background fabric.
From the star fabric cut:

• 1  3 1/2" square
• 4  2 1/2" squares

From the background fabric cut:

• 1  4 1/2" square
• 4   2" squares

Turkey Red 

Follow the directions on the "ruler" for the finished size of 1 1/2" x 3" and presto you have a wonderful star block.
