Happy Easter

Well it wouldn't be Easter if the Easter Pug did not make an appearance.  Please have a joyous one with your family.
I did find this cute picture also...I know weird humor.

Another Cute BOM....Rather ROM

Kaaren over at The Painted Quilt is starting a free Row of the Month with one of her own designs.  Happy Scrappy Spring.  It is really cute and includes bunnies.  I don't need another project right now or a large quilt, so I think I might make it 1/2 the size she is stating and work on my "quilt math"....I like things that make me think ;o)  And it has bunnies....how can I resist?

I won!!

Now onto our winner. This month, the random number generator picked number 124. So my original postcard and the fabric goes to Kristie of M.S. Dolittle Quilter! Congratulations Kristie!

I have NEVER won anything online.  Michelle over at Raspberry Rabbit has broken that trend! Thanks Michelle and the bunnies. Go visit her online and see her Folk Art Fusion projects. It is a technique she has created and is really fun to do.
I won the bunny postcard below and fabric!

You can buy a cute kit from Raspberry Rabbits on Michelle's site.

Pippin and I are doing the Happy Bunny Dance.

Had to have and are you a Prioner?

Still unpacking and will be for a while. I am organizing things at the same time and trying to figure where things could go since I have the time now to do this.

We have pretty much unearthed all the "gadget" things I need for sewing except I could not find my Best Press spray bottle.  I am sure I will find it, I just need it now!  So I went to my local quilt store,  Quilt N Stitch to get some.  Bingo they even had the "flavor" I like.

I have been thinking a lot about pressing and ironing lately...go figure.  Anyways recently on a blog (sorry I can't remember which one) there was a great simple description of both...ironing:  the iron moves on the fabric...pressing...iron is lifted up and down on fabric.  (Very simplistic for my point).

I believe I am neither of these when I use the iron for quilting....I "prion".  Yes this is a new word just for us that press and iron their blocks.  I maybe shouldn't admit this, but I do move the iron when pressing/ironing 1/2 square triangles open or seams to one side.  I don't iron hard to where the fabric is stretched, but I do move the iron to help me put the seam or fabric in the direction it needs to go.  I also press...like setting the seam, pressing a block or seam...so I have decided for all of us who do not iron or press that we are "PRIONERS"  and proud of it. Are you one?

Found the Iron...

You know when you go out and buy something that you just cannot do without? Odds are that you will find it that day or the next...well I now I get to return the iron I didn't use yet.

It is rather hard to do freezer paper applique without an iron as I am doing in the Snowbound Quilt Along.  With a million boxes marked "Sewing Room" to go thru after the move I just knew I wasn't going to find it anytime soon and time was ticking away.  So I went out and got a cheap one to get me thru....Bob found it that night when we digging in boxes. Yippy!

I was able today to get caught up on the Dixie Diary BOM from Barbara Brackman. I appliqued stars in the middles and used star fabric from the Metropolitan line.  I think I will set them on point by making the block be the center of a square in a square block.  Hoping the other fabrics in the collection will add more color this way.

We have arrived

This should have been posted a few weeks ago, but well I have been trying to unpack!

We left very early in the morning on the 16th and I tried to get pics of the cross country zoo menagerie, but it was too dark.  So I was able to get Kevin to snap this pic of what I saw in the back seat on the way to LA.

Bob was in front guiding the way with the danes.  You would never know he had them in there since they were laying down most of the time.

I think the best part of the trip was when we stopped 1/2 way at a rest stop.  We parked in the truck section since that was closer to the "dog" part.  Then we unloaded with the dogs.  Oh but wait....I didn't tell you that Bob could not get out of the car unless Kevin or I opened the door from the outside...it is an older car and just decided not to open from the inside any more.  Yes he could of slid over to the passenger door, but well that would have been hard with Lily there.

Here is a recap of who was in each car...just for fun.
People literally stopped and watched us unload.  The birds and bunny were just fine to stay in their carriers until the destination.  They were troopers.  Just love my animals.  Bob said that it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be travelling with them.

We now have a sun room that is awesome.  It is not called that now.  Bob has dubbed it the Zoo.
