The Organization Begins...

I went to our local Target to get the "cube" organizers on sale this week.  Starting with the 9 cube in white with black bins.  Yes, I said starting.  I am trying to organize my strips and scrappy pieces.  Figure I will make cute tags like Pat at Silver Thimble did for hers.

I am also on a mission to make a banner with my blog name on it and drape in the sewing room along the wall.  Hasn't happened yet.

I still need to work more on the county project before we have our first Media Specialist in-service.  I also need to update my website with the lessons before they show it to the principals at their meeting.  (They did ask for permission).

One of the new rulers I bought at bad Melisa's (Sweet Home Quilt), I am going to try on a jelly roll I have had...Santorini....while I was sorting this I was thinking this would be a cheerful quilt when we all go to the nursing homes.  Then I thought hmmm....santorini....sanitarium....looked at the items in the fabric some more...some look like olives...hmmm if you combine sanitarium and martinis (olives)....you get the fabric name so it would be perfect when I am in the sanitarium...   nursing home. I wonder if they serve martinis? k

I'm sure it's not too late to join...

Okay since it is summer time and I am on vacation, I get to check out more stuff on the internet between doing things I need to do.
Well I have signed up for the Primitive Gatherings Pieced block of the week!  LOVE IT!

And you get a freebie as well.  I guess I loved it so much I signed up twice...they called me and made sure I wanted two.  Great customer service!  I decided to get two and give the other away at a later time.  With the BOW you get a "freebie".  So far the two I have received are so cute and fast to do.  It is a block designed by Lisa B. and it includes the backing and wool to do it with...FREE people!  I will say that I did go on their site last night and got some of the Valdani thread I didn't have to do the free block just like they had it.

There is also a free Alphabet BOD ( block of the day?) at Quilts by Cheri.
It is her own rendition of an alphabet quilt.  She has great primitives on her site and is so generous with her ideas!
Check it out if you want a fun free BOD. k

Went for the thread....really

I went to Sweet Home Quilt Co. today to pick up the Aurifil thread that I needed for the BOM they are doing.  Well let's just say I filled one of bad Melisa's big black bags, but I did get the thread too ;o)

It was one of the "let me give you this much in cash" and then charge the rest deals so it doesn't look so bad on the credit card when the bill comes.  lol

When I got home there was a package that greeted me!  It was one of the things I ordered when I couldn't go on the trip to the mountains to quilt.  Let's just say if you have the need to press seams open or do Bonnie Hunter quilts that have bulky seams due to all the pieces...YOU NEED THIS!  I normally do not press seams open in quilting, but to relieve the bulk one needs to at times.

It is Marti's fault that I bought it really.  I thought at first I could make one...don't bother, just go to the site and buy it. The workmanship is so much better than one could do on their own! Click on the picture and it will take you to the site where there are videos on how it works.  k

Reporting...

Smudge is doing better...he actually ate something this morning and has a little pep in his step.  He is definitely taking it easy still and I find it interesting how the other dogs know he is not feeling well.  They come up to check on him and then let him be.  Sweet pups to care for their middle brother.

I've been working on my school web page lessons for the meeting I have this afternoon.  I know I will be working more on it...I have stuff to upload, just taking the time to do it...well I'd rather be sewing or playing nurse to the dogs...lol.

I found another bom that is FREE.  Yes you know how I am addicted to them.  Check the right side bar. It starts in July and is a Christmas Town theme.  Sounds great.  I also figured out how to bunch the four blog people doing this into one "reader" folder so I can just check the folder and they all pop up instead of checking each one.  Technology is great when one has time to play.

Well off to get ready for my meeting...fun, fun.  k

Must be the week of the vet...

Not sure what is going on here at the M house.  Smudge decided to have nasty stuff come out of his nose last night at 2 in the morning.  He woke up and I thought he was going to be sick...you know that sound they make right before...anyways, I pick him up and run outside (I did just wash all the blankets and sheets that day!)

He decided that no, he did not need to be ill...came in and was having issues breathing.  Now for a pug, breathing is a term that they do not do well anyways with their smushed face.  I waited a 1/2 hour and saw that it was not getting better and brought him to the emergency vet.  They were working on a dog and I had to wait a little while before they saw Smudge.

They thought he had a cold.  Weird because it just came on in an instant.  I have been Smudge sitting now and he is a little better.  Still having issues and won't eat.  I can't even give him the meds they gave me because he won't eat something with them.  I am hoping he will keep improving throughout the day and if not, I will go to his regular vet in the a.m.

I do have to go to the ISC for a meeting at 1pm so it will be for a long day.

I was going to take a pic of Smudge, like I did for Toby, but well it was rather gross with stuff spewing out of his nose and the drool hanging down his jowls...you can just picture it with your own imagination!  Yuck!  k
